Principal Civil/Structural Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to join its Operations business in Tengiz, Kazakhstan. The role focuses on structural analysis and design for oil and gas petrochemical projects, supporting the CSA group and other disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Perform computer‑aided and manual structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in accordance with RoK Standards and Eurocodes.
• Analyse and design concrete foundations for all building types, prepare Basis of Design, Design Reports and FEED studies.
• Review calculations and designs prepared by junior engineers, provide feedback, and mentor less experienced staff.
• Produce job packs, material requisitions, sign drawings and key documents, and generate CTRs as required.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections, provide technical guidance, and contribute to technical bids and vendor evaluations.

Required profile

• Higher technical education in civil or structural engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
• Professional level knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to apply advanced engineering principles and provide mature engineering judgment.

Required skills

• Structural analysis (computer‑aided and manual).
• Design of concrete and steel structures using Eurocodes.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software and calculation templates.
• Preparation of design documentation, job packs, and material requisitions.
