Senior Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting (Maternity Leave Cover)

About the role

Nazarbayev University is looking for a Senior Manager to cover maternity leave in its Department of Accounting and Financial Reporting. The position is full-time and involves accounting, reporting and tax matters for the University.

Key responsibilities

• Account for fixed assets and intangible assets, and ensure inventory movements are recorded
• Calculate taxes on time and provide tax, statistical and other reports
• Accept, verify and register primary documents, prepare them for archiving and safeguard them
• Take part in preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS and in developing internal methodological and regulatory documents
• Organise asset and accounts receivable/payable inventories and interact with government bodies on accounting and reporting data
• Automate and optimise processes, review contracts and transactions, and help identify and manage risks
• Act as temporary replacement for another Senior Manager (up to one month) and follow the line manager's instructions
• Ensure compliance with Kazakhstani legislation and internal rules, protect confidential information and hand over documentation on departure

Required profile

• Higher education, preferably from an institution teaching in English
• Specialisation in accounting and auditing, finance or economics
• Experience defined by the university's standard qualifications for administrative positions
• Fluency in English, Kazakh and Russian

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and tax reporting forms
• ACCA DipIFR, ACCA/CPA or RK professional accountant certificate preferred
• Good understanding of IT in accounting, tax software and 1C
• Analytical skills and knowledge of MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint
