Extracurricular Lifeguard (Swimming)

About the role

SABIS International School in Astana is looking for a lifeguard to support its extracurricular swimming programme. The role helps students reach their potential through the SABIS Physical Education Curriculum and the SABIS Point System, and covers teaching, competition preparation, pool maintenance and student safety.

Key responsibilities

• Teach lessons according to the SABIS Physical Education Curriculum and the SABIS Point System, complete lesson plans and keep daily reflections; plans and evaluations are reviewed by the head of department.
• Train students for competitions, including written practice plans, performance tracking and departmental reports.
• Support drills and activities linked to swimming lesson objectives, and attend competitions and Saturday activities when requested.
• Take care of pool equipment, organise, set up and pick it up.
• Carry out and record daily water quality tests as directed by administration, and complete forms for students in training (accident forms, SLO charts, etc.).
• Maintain discipline, reporting infractions via the discipline sheet and incident reports when needed.
• Help students develop an active lifestyle and understand water safety.
• Meet the head of department at least weekly, and keep an up-to-date life-saving certificate.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject or equivalent.
• Lifeguard training and certification.
• English proficiency.
• Ability to work within a team and good communication skills.
• Meets local employment requirements, including education and certification, reference and criminal background checks.
