Physical Education Teacher

About the role

SABIS International School in Astana is looking for a Physical Education Teacher within its Teaching & Academics department. The teacher supports student success through the extracurricular SABIS curriculum and the SABIS teaching methodology, and also trains students for competitions.

Key responsibilities

• Complete lesson plans and keep daily reflections; plans and evaluations are reviewed by the Head of Department.
• Teach according to the SABIS Physical Education Curriculum, developing drills and activities as set out in the SABIS Point System.
• Train students for competitions, including written practice plans, performance tracking and departmental reports.
• Attend and judge competitions between SABIS schools and Saturday activities on the school campus.
• Take care of equipment, including organisation, set-up and pick-up.
• Complete student training documentation such as accident forms and SLO record charts.
• Maintain classroom discipline, reporting infractions through the discipline sheet and writing incident reports when needed.
• Stay involved in extra-curricular activities and help students develop an active lifestyle.
• Keep an up-to-date lifesaving certificate to teach swimming.
• Meet weekly with the Head of Department to discuss issues and concerns.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject and/or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience.
• Preferred: Expert, Researcher or Master classification.
• English proficiency.
• Must meet country and local education and certification requirements, and pass reference and criminal background checks.
