Senior Tax Accountant – Tax Reporting & Strategy

About the role

PwC is looking for a Senior Associate to join its Tax Reporting & Strategy team in Almaty (with responsibilities also covering Astana). You will work with a diverse client base, handling tax registration, compliance, and reporting while driving process improvements and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT, WHT, CIT and other tax returns, as well as statistical reports to the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
• Handle accounting and tax accounting transactions for foreign branch offices and local companies.
• Supervise and coach junior team members, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
• Communicate daily with clients and internal teams via correspondence and meetings.
• Identify process enhancements, automate routine tasks, and contribute to the development of digital tax solutions.
• Participate in marketing and promotional activities for the practice.

Required profile

• Experience in a Big‑4 or comparable consulting environment.
• Proven track record managing full accounting closures and preparing CIT, VAT, WHT with minimal supervision.
• Project‑management experience, including task allocation, review, feedback, and deadline management.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize more than ten daily assignments.
• Strong written and spoken Russian and English skills.

Required skills

• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with 1C:Enterprise 8.3 or another ERP system.
