Relationship Associate

About the role

The Relationship Associate supports client relationships within Institutional Banking, helping clients raise capital and providing strategic advisory for mergers, acquisitions and other financial transactions. The role works closely with bankers, product partners and risk teams to deliver tailored banking solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely issue resolution and high‑quality client support.
• Conduct financial and operational investigations, including credit, foreign exchange, cash management and trade services.
• Support bankers in preparing relationship reviews, client portfolio analyses and business development initiatives.
• Partner with product partners and relationship managers to execute Know Your Client (KYC) requirements across products and marketing levels.
• Coordinate credit originations, allocations, approvals, documentation, bookings, fee collections and renewals for Standby Letters of Credit.
• Assist in preparing credit approval materials and client discussions, ensuring proper recording in Citi Risk Approvals.
• Maintain portfolio data integrity, including accurate marketing levels and legal entity structures.
• Identify and escalate risks while ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services.
• Strong client focus, results orientation and professional judgment.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail and resourcefulness.
• Excellent organizational, follow‑up and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian; Kazakh is an advantage.
• Proven planning, negotiation and relationship‑management capabilities.
