Accountant

About the role

TMF Group is seeking a qualified Accountant to manage accounting and tax affairs for its clients in Kazakhstan. The role involves ensuring compliance with local legislation, supporting junior staff, and contributing to the digital transformation of accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain clients' accounting and tax records in line with Kazakhstani law and contractual agreements.
• Control the quality and timeliness of work performed by junior accountants, providing mentorship and professional development.
• Prepare and submit tax returns, statistical forms, reports to the National Bank, and documents required for currency control.
• Advise clients on accounting and tax matters, including VAT and withholding tax for transactions with non‑residents.
• Develop and implement efficient accounting procedures and document flow to optimise client service.
• Verify primary documents, payment orders, invoices and other accounting forms.
• Participate in the automation and digitalisation of accounting processes, collaborating with the IT team on system integration.
• Liaise with tax authorities, auditors and other external bodies on client‑related issues.
• Ensure adherence to internal policies, monitoring deadlines and quality standards.
• Assist in onboarding new clients by analysing data, configuring accounting processes and agreeing reporting formats.

Required profile

• Higher education in accounting or finance.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• English proficiency at least B1 level.
• Strong knowledge of Kazakhstani accounting legislation, tax law, currency regulation and the Administrative Offences Code.
• Proficient user of 1C: Accounting; experience with other ERP systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with online banking platforms and tax‑reporting software.
• High level of computer literacy.
