Senior Civil/Structural Designer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Designer to join its Operations business in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality civil and structural engineering deliverables for oil and gas petrochemical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering deliverables from rough sketches following company procedures and standards.
• Develop detailed graphics and drawings using CAD and specialist engineering software.
• Maintain drawing quality, perform full yellow‑line checks, and ensure compliance with client CAD drafting standards.
• Mentor and train less‑experienced designers.
• Design steel pipe‑racks, bridges, access stairs/platforms, buildings, reinforced concrete foundations, below‑ground structures, earthworks, roads, drainage, and occasional architectural elements.

Required profile

• Higher technical education.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant civil/structural design experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical sector.
• Proficient with relevant software and calculation templates.
• Strong ability to interpret technical information, apply standards, codes, and industry best practices.
• Demonstrated capability to create functional, cost‑effective designs and to guide junior staff.

Required skills

• CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Specialist engineering calculation software.
