Senior Accountant / Tax Manager

About the role

Abbott, a global healthcare company, is hiring a Senior Accountant / Tax Manager for its EPD Division, based in Almaty. The role covers tax reporting, lease accounting under IFRS 16, fixed asset accounting and corporate reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tax reports on time, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, transport tax, transfer pricing, non-resident taxation and other filings.
• Liaise with government authorities on tax notifications and inquiries.
• Manage lease accounting in line with IFRS 16.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting, including acquisitions, transfers, disposals, inventory counts and asset upgrades.
• Support electronic document management (EDM) solutions, including integration with 1C 8.3.
• Support import-related transactions and ensure accurate inventory accounting through the Virtual Warehouse system.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account reviews.
• Prepare reports for the National Bank and statistical authorities.
• Help update the company's tax and accounting policies.
• Prepare tax, financial and corporate reports, including the Affiliate Cash Tax Template, Entity Risk Summary, CFS and LBE.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• Strong knowledge of Kazakhstan tax and accounting legislation.
• Professional Accountant of Kazakhstan certification.
• Experience in an international company and hands-on experience in tax, financial, management and corporate reporting.
• Experience interacting with government authorities on tax matters.
• Intermediate or higher English proficiency.
• Experience with fixed assets accounting, monthly closing, balance sheet reconciliations and accounting operations.
• Participation in process improvement or automation projects, including EDM implementation, is an advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced use of 1C and Microsoft Excel.
• Attention to detail, accountability and ability to meet deadlines.
