Laboratory Assistant, School of Medicine (Grade 12)

About the role

Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, founded in 2015 and developed in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, is looking for a Laboratory Assistant (Grade 12) in Astana. The assistant supports the running of laboratory sessions and the practical teaching of the medical school.

Key responsibilities

• Help conduct laboratory sessions of the School of Medicine
• Keep laboratory equipment in good condition
• Prepare plans for practical and laboratory classes according to faculty instructions and available equipment and reagents
• Ensure safety rules are followed in the laboratories and brief staff on the safe use of equipment
• Analyze the need for equipment, consumables and reagents on the basis of costs, process purchase applications and maintain adequate inventory
• Assist in course-related activities as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medicine, Biomedicine, Genetics, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or another related field
• Excellent knowledge of basic safety rules when working with laboratory equipment
• Fluent in English, Kazakh and Russian (written and oral)

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office experience
• Communication, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, teamwork and problem-solving ability
