Gymnastics Teacher

About the role

SABIS International School in Astana is looking for a Gymnastics Teacher within its Teaching & Academics department. The role supports students reaching their potential through the extracurricular SABIS curriculum and the SABIS teaching methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Complete lesson plans according to the outline set by the regional office, covering beam, acrobatics, vaulting box, trampoline and team floor exercises.
• Develop and run drills and activities based on the pre-set points of each lesson.
• Teach according to the SABIS Gymnastic Curriculum and the SABIS Point System.
• Set up protocols and tests at the start of each year to assess skill levels.
• Build a team of 15 students per grade for competitions, including practice plans, performance tracking and departmental reports.
• Help students develop positive skills and knowledge to encourage an active lifestyle.
• Plan and develop the end-of-year show with all grade levels.
• Attend and judge competitions between SABIS schools and accompany students by bus to competitions for their safety.
• Complete required forms for students in training, such as accident forms and SLO record charts.
• Care for gymnastics equipment, organise set-up and pick-up, and maintain student discipline, reporting infractions through the discipline sheet and incident report.
• Communicate weekly with the Head of the Department.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject and/or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience.
• English proficiency.
• Preferred: Expert, Researcher or Master classification.
• Must meet local education and certification requirements, and pass reference and criminal background checks.
