Classroom Assistant

About the role

SABIS International School in Astana is looking for a non-teaching Classroom Assistant. The role supports teachers inside and outside the classroom, helps students understand and complete their assignments, and keeps the classroom safe, productive and clean.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in monitoring the class schedule.
• Keep a record of children's attendance and deliver attendance forms to and from the office.
• Handle class displays, games and visual materials such as bulletin boards, according to the teacher's directions.
• Reinforce class and school rules and students' behaviour.
• Document students' progress and communicate with the Academic Quality Controller when needed.
• Filing notes into children's reading folders and checking them each morning for new notes.
• Ensure the classroom is safe and clean.
• Support the class teacher during lessons by keeping children focused and attentive, and help correct children's work.
• Listen actively to students and read their word cards.
• Help with school events, trips and activities, and perform other related tasks as delegated by the School Management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent.
• English proficiency.
• Professional behaviour and ethical conduct.
• Ability to deliver results, show continuous improvement, take accountability and own your work.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Meets employment requirements, including education and certification requirements where applicable, and passes criminal background and reference checks; skills testing may be required.
