Construction Engineer – Mechanical/CSA/Piping

About the role

Wood KSS LLP is seeking an experienced Construction Engineer with a focus on mechanical, CSA and piping disciplines to support its oil and gas petrochemical operations in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The role involves overseeing day‑to‑day construction activities, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, safety standards and quality procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily construction deliverables in line with client contracts and company policies.
• Lead safety initiatives and adhere to WoodKSS HSSE and Quality Plans, as well as local RoK standards.
• Participate in site surveys, weekly engineering meetings and provide construction input during design phases.
• Review engineering detail designs, develop method statements and preservation procedures, and integrate them into the construction schedule.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to optimise constructability and ensure safe execution of works.
• Conduct toolbox talks, inspections and risk assessments, communicating safety, quality and environmental responsibilities to the team.

Required profile

• Higher technical education (engineering degree).
• Minimum 10 years of post‑qualification field construction experience in the oil, gas or petrochemical sector.
• Strong safety leadership, organisational skills and the ability to work to tight timelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with iPims (project information management system).
