Chief Accountant

About the role

Glovo is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead its local accounting team in Kazakhstan. The role is responsible for statutory accounting, tax compliance, and audit readiness in line with IFRS and local standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage the local accounting team, fostering professional development.
• Develop, formalize and annually update the company’s local accounting and tax policies.
• Streamline data flows between sales channels, invoicing and ERP systems to reduce manual effort.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and conduct regular reviews of tax workflows.
• Manage routine state tax audits, minimizing exposure and penalties.
• Collaborate with external outsource firms and advisors for accurate and timely tax filings.
• Optimize month‑end closing routines to meet both local statutory and HQ deadlines with high data accuracy.
• Oversee high‑volume transaction processing and billing workflows to ensure operational accuracy and compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading accounting teams.
• Background in high‑volume transactional tech platforms, fintech, telecom or large retail/FMCG.
• Experience preparing for and defending state tax audits and working with external tax consultants.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (1C: Enterprise 8.3) and collaboration with 1C developers.
• Strong data‑analytics skills (advanced Excel, Pivot Tables, Power Query).
• Higher degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Audit.
• Fluent English (C1/C2) and professional fluency in Kazakh (strong asset).
• Active professional accountant certification in Kazakhstan; ACCA membership or DipIFR is a plus; certified tax advisor is a strong advantage.
