Senior Accountant / Tax Manager

About the role

This position is based in Almaty within Abbott's EPD Division. The role focuses on tax compliance, lease accounting and supporting electronic document management while ensuring accurate financial reporting in line with Kazakhstani regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tax reports, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, transport tax, transfer pricing, non‑resident taxation and other filings.
• Liaise with government authorities on tax notifications and inquiries.
• Manage lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16.
• Support implementation and maintenance of electronic document management (EDM) solutions, including integration with 1C 8.3.
• Maintain fixed‑asset accounting, covering acquisitions, transfers, disposals and inventory counts.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and account reviews.
• Prepare reports for the National Bank and statistical authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• Strong knowledge of Kazakhstan tax and accounting legislation and a Professional Accountant of Kazakhstan certification.
• Experience working in an international company and interacting with government tax authorities.
• Intermediate or higher English proficiency.
• Hands‑on experience in tax, financial, management and corporate reporting.

Required skills

• Advanced user of 1C.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
