Resident Advisor – Monetary & FX Market Operations

About the role

The International Monetary Fund is seeking an experienced Resident Advisor to support monetary and foreign‑exchange market operations for its Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC) in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The appointment is initially for twelve months with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to capacity‑development requests from nine member countries and provide on‑site or remote technical assistance.
• Design and deliver training sessions on monetary policy implementation, FX market development, reserve management and central‑bank liquidity backstops.
• Assess existing monetary policy frameworks and recommend legislative, regulatory and operational improvements.
• Prepare mission documents, coordinate with the IMF Monetary and Capital Markets Department, and ensure timely transmission of reports to national authorities.
• Facilitate workshops, seminars and webinars, collaborating with other resident advisors and short‑term experts.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, finance or a related field.
• Extensive experience in central‑bank operations, monetary policy design and foreign‑exchange markets.
• Proven track record of delivering technical assistance and capacity‑building programmes in emerging economies.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with ability to work in multicultural environments.
