Project Engineer

About the role

JTI is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the installation of new production and engineering equipment as well as the modernization of existing assets in Almaty. You will manage projects from feasibility studies through commissioning and capitalization, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, budget, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, technical specifications and supporting documentation.
• Conduct feasibility studies, collect technical and financial data, and prepare preliminary designs and equipment selection proposals.
• Coordinate procurement, work with contractors, engineering service providers and equipment suppliers.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, cash flow, commissioning and capitalization dates, and report status in SAP.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, quality standards and local legislation (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001).
• Identify and implement best‑practice engineering solutions to improve equipment efficiency and production performance.
• Maintain the factory equipment database, technical documentation and support energy planning.

Required profile

• Higher technical or engineering education.
• Minimum three years of experience in an engineering or technical role.
• Fluent in Kazakh and Russian; advanced English.
• Strong project management, leadership and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Good understanding of local engineering legislation, production equipment and process flow diagrams.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (intermediate level).
• SAP (experience with project data).
• Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
