Fire Assay Operator

About the role

ALS is seeking a Fire Assay Operator to join its laboratory team. You will perform precious‑metal analyses on geological samples, alloys and production waste, ensuring accurate results and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct simple and medium‑complexity fire‑assay analyses for gold, silver and other precious metals.
• Prepare titrated and percentage solutions required for assay procedures.
• Manage sample weighing, batching, melting, casting of alloys, cutting and cupellation of assay residues.
• Maintain sample order throughout all processing stages and record all work performed.
• Perform shift hand‑over, clean, wash and disinfect laboratory equipment, tools and work areas.
• Ensure all equipment and communications are kept in proper condition.

Required profile

• Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with fire‑assay or metal analysis.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Commitment to safety, cleanliness and accurate documentation.
