Senior Tax Associate – Tax Reporting & Strategy (Almaty/Astana)

About the role

PwC is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Tax Reporting & Strategy team in Almaty and Astana. You will work with a diverse client base, handling complex tax and accounting matters from strategy through execution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT) and statistical reports, including reporting to the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
• Manage accounting and tax accounting transactions for foreign legal entity branches and local companies.
• Supervise and coach junior team members while ensuring compliance with established procedures.
• Maintain daily communication with clients and internal teams.
• Drive process enhancements, automate routine tasks, and contribute to the development of digital tax solutions.
• Participate in marketing and promotional activities for the practice.

Required profile

• Experience in a Big 4 or comparable consulting firm.
• Proven ability to manage full accounting closures and prepare CIT, VAT, and WHT filings with minimal supervision.
• Project‑management experience, including task allocation, junior oversight, deliverable quality control, and client communication.
• Strong multitasking skills, handling more than ten tasks daily.
• Fluent reading, speaking and writing in Russian and English.
• Passion for continuous process review, improvement and automation.

Required skills

• Advanced use of MS Excel.
• Proficiency with 1C:Enterprise 8.3 or other ERP systems.
