Senior Associate – Tax Reporting & Strategy (Senior Tax Accountant)

About the role

PwC is looking for a Senior Associate to join its Tax Reporting & Strategy team in Almaty/Astana. You will work with a group of problem‑solvers to deliver tax and accounting services for a diverse client base, from strategy formulation to execution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT, WHT, CIT and statistical reports, including filings to the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
• Handle accounting and tax accounting transactions for foreign legal entity branches and local companies.
• Supervise and coach junior team members, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
• Communicate daily with clients and internal teams via correspondence and meetings.
• Identify process improvements, automate routine tasks and contribute to digital product development for clients.
• Participate in marketing and promotional activities.

Required profile

• Experience in a Big 4 or comparable consulting firm.
• Proven ability to manage full accounting closures and prepare CIT, VAT, WHT with limited supervision.
• Project‑management experience, including task allocation, review, and deadline monitoring.
• Strong multitasking skills – able to prioritize more than ten tasks daily.
• Fluent reading, speaking and writing in Russian and English.

Required skills

• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with 1C:Enterprise 8.3 or other ERP systems.
