Process Engineer – Safety, Integrity & Production (Aksai, Kazakhstan)

About the role

RINA is seeking a qualified Process Engineer to join the Process and Asset Integrity department of a leading oil company in Aksai, Kazakhstan. The position is a 1‑year fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension, operating on a 28/28 rotation schedule (12 hours per day, 7 days a week). All travel, visa, accommodation and meal expenses are covered.

Key responsibilities

• Provide process design input and support for plant optimisation, improving production rate, availability, maintainability and safety.
• Review, verify and approve all process engineering deliverables ensuring compliance with standards.
• Assess and manage new and existing asset‑integrity issues.
• Support Management of Change (MOC) and Barrier Model activities, including data analysis, risk assessments (What‑if, Hazard Identification, ORA) and periodic reporting.
• Conduct asset‑integrity technical tasks such as HAZOP action review, HARF processing and close‑out.
• Perform site visits, complete check‑lists and generate reports.
• Act as the liaison between the Asset Integrity Department and the Engineering Team.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Solid experience in process engineering, production optimisation, asset integrity and process safety.
• Professional proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Hands‑on experience with field activities, site visits and data collection.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents (P&IDs, C&E, SLD, isometrics).
• Experience in risk assessment methods (ORA, HAZOP, What‑if, SiL).
• Familiarity with SCS/SCE/SCC reviews, Operational Performance Standards (O‑PS) and Written Schemes of Examination (WSoE).
• Background in maintenance engineering and task‑list definition.
