Principal AI Solutions Engineer – Freelance

About the role

We are looking for a freelance Principal AI Solutions Engineer to partner with senior technology leaders of B2B clients. In this senior, client‑facing role you will translate ambitious model goals into practical data‑generation, labeling and evaluation pipelines that power next‑generation AI systems.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical liaison for CTOs, VPs of Engineering and research leaders, driving solution design from discovery to delivery.
• Diagnose client data needs, define data strategies and build scalable pipelines for synthetic data, labeling and model evaluation.
• Deliver end‑to‑end implementations, manage escalations and ensure expectations are met with integrity.
• Mentor junior Solution Engineers and Technical Consultants, establishing best practices across engagements.
• Contribute to Toloka’s AI solution engineering methodology and thought leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience at senior or principal level in AI/ML data engineering or solution consulting.
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
• Track record of delivering data‑centric solutions for enterprise or frontier AI customers.
• Self‑starter with a hands‑on mindset and ability to work remotely with global teams.
