Legal Counsel

About the role

Alatau City Bank is seeking a full‑time Legal Counsel to join its Almaty office. You will provide day‑to‑day legal support across the bank’s operations, ensuring compliance with local banking regulations and corporate governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and internal policies.
• Advise business units on legal issues, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation.
• Prepare legal documents and support contract negotiations with clients, partners, and vendors.
• Manage legal queries from internal stakeholders and coordinate with external counsel when needed.
• Monitor legislative changes, update internal guidelines, and contribute to training on legal and compliance matters.

Required profile

• Law degree with a focus on banking, corporate, or commercial law; admission to practice is a plus.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation and managing agreements.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and risk‑assessment abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of local languages is advantageous.
• Ability to work on‑site in Almaty, collaborate across departments, and handle multiple matters simultaneously.
