Commercial Manager – Russian & English Speaking

About the role

Archetype Group, a leading international construction consultancy, is seeking a Commercial Manager fluent in Russian and English to join its fast‑growing Central Asia office in Almaty. You will work closely with the Project Manager and Project Director to ensure contract compliance, financial transparency, and high‑quality delivery on large‑scale industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and Project Director in maintaining legally sound and financially transparent relationships with contractors.
• Manage the on‑site Quantity Surveying (QS) team, including performance reviews and mentoring.
• Oversee cost management: develop initial budgets, create cost plans, review and certify contractor invoices, monitor capital expenditure, and produce cash‑flow forecasts.
• Handle contract administration: identify out‑of‑scope work, manage change orders, negotiate extra fees, and advise on subcontracting contracts.
• Lead tender processes: establish tender schedules, pre‑qualify vendors, prepare and issue tenders, analyse change proposals, and coordinate negotiations.
• Coordinate arbitrations and implement commercial management tools in line with Archetype Group standards.
• Participate in project meetings and promptly flag contractual or cost‑related issues to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Open to Kazakh or foreign citizens with fluency in written and spoken Russian and English.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial, QS, or contract management on at least three international industrial projects (6‑7 digit budgets).
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
