Chemical Laboratory Assistant

About the role

ALS is seeking a motivated Chemical Laboratory Assistant to join its analytical team. You will work in a modern laboratory environment, supporting the testing of samples and contributing to high‑quality data that drives scientific insights.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inorganic and organic chemical analyses, including precious metal content determination.
• Prepare calibration and working solutions according to standard procedures.
• Operate and maintain analytical instruments such as spectrometers.
• Follow ISO 17025 guidelines, safety protocols, fire‑prevention rules, and occupational health standards.
• Handle laboratory equipment, including changing acetylene cylinders and lifting loads up to 20 kg (men) or 10 kg (women).
• Document results accurately and ensure traceability of all analytical work.

Required profile

• Technical or professional secondary education in chemistry, or higher technical education with at least one year of relevant experience.
• Organized, detail‑oriented and able to manage high workloads during peak periods.
• Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude, good visual‑motor coordination.
• Team player with basic English proficiency and confident PC usage.

Required skills

• Fundamental knowledge of inorganic and organic chemistry.
• Methods for precious‑metal analysis.
• Operation of spectrometers and other analytical instruments.
• Solution preparation and calibration techniques.
• Understanding of ISO 17025 requirements.
• Laboratory safety and fire‑prevention procedures.
• Proficiency with standard PC applications.
