Consultant – Rolling Stock & Defect Management

About the role

We are looking for a Consultant specialized in Rolling Stock and Defect Management to join our local team in Astana. You will support engineering and consulting projects across Central Asia, providing technical expertise on rolling‑stock condition, performance and maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on rolling‑stock condition, performance and maintenance requirements.
• Review, optimise and document maintenance strategies and schedules.
• Analyse maintenance data to identify defects, trends and system performance issues.
• Interpret purchase, warranty and maintenance contract obligations and ensure compliance.
• Manage defect reporting, categorisation, tracking and verification of corrective actions.
• Conduct root‑cause assessments and prepare structured defect reports.
• Lead technical claims with manufacturers and suppliers, including evidence documentation.
• Support pre‑inspections, acceptance activities, and validate non‑conformities during factory or site inspections.
• Coordinate technical topics between OEMs, operators, maintenance teams and customer stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Rail Vehicle Technology or a related field.
• Several years of experience in the rolling‑stock industry (maintenance, commissioning, engineering or operations).
• Strong knowledge of purchase and maintenance contract structures for rolling stock.
• Proven experience in defect and claim management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluent in English; Russian and/or Kazakh is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel and work in an international environment.
